The internationally-renowned artist Stuart Semple, who was born in Dorset, has completed the design and artwork of the very first mermaid tail sculpture at his studio in Bournemouth.

Stuart is well known for his sociologically engaged works that often discuss youth politics, accessibility and democracy. He has created large-scale public projects for cities including Melbourne, Dublin, London, Moscow and Manchester and was the founder of the artist-run gallery Giant in Bournemouth.

Stuart says, “The work that Julia’s House does is really, really important. It helps so many families, and to be able to contribute my art to something like The Great Tail Trail means the world to me.”
