Sculptures

From pirates to sunsets, ice-cream cones to Dorset countryside, these mer-mazing works of art will be on display from 5 April to Sunday 1 June. And don’t forget to download The Great Tail Trail app so you can be ready collect your app code at each sculpture – you might unlock a reward!

All the mermaid tail sculptures will be sold to the highest bidder at a Grand Auction on Friday 20 June to help raise vital funds to help Julia’s House continue to provide essential care and support to local children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The mermaid tail sculpture was specially chosen for the trail as it represents the Mermaid Suite at the Julia’s House Dorset hospice in Corfe Mullen, where families can spend time when their child is at the end of their life. 

A celebration of Poole High

Our sculpture was inspired by where we live, the school building and the colours of the uniform of our amazing school!

Inspired by the glorious local landscapes, this tail highlights the iconic and memorable sights around us, particularly in nature.

A Pirate's Tail

Ahoy, me hearties! This tail features a salty sea-dog pirate character who has washed up with his crew on the south coast.

A Twist In The Tale

‘A Twist in the Tale’ depicts a red-headed mermaid sunning herself and enjoying chips on the beach while surrounded by seagulls.

Agents of Change

Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching. We are all called to be Agents of Change and small acts of kindness create a ripple effect.

All Tail-gether Now

Inspired by the incredible care and support that Julia’s House provides for seriously ill children and their families.

An Ocean of Colour

Inspired by all the children at Mudeford Infant School, this tail combines all of their lovely ideas into a vibrant design.

Archaic Times

Archaic Times depicts distant, ancient times when dinosaurs ruled the land, sea and air of Dorset’s Jurassic coast.

Aubrey

We imagined that one of our friends at Puddle Lane was a visiting mermaid, joyfully splashing and diving through the puddles with us.

Be A Mermaid Make Waves

Harkiran's design uses vibrant colours, with the phrase "Be a Mermaid, Make Waves" written in bold, playful letters.

Breathe With Me

The key line of Lauren's poem: “I breathe with the waves and the waves breathe with me"" wraps playfully around the tail.
