Brave little Ellie has celebrated her fourth birthday this week with the best news for her family – another positive scan result.

Ellie was just six months old when her family discovered she had a large brain tumour. Following several operations and chemotherapy sessions, the youngster is now on the road to recovery, but she still needs to have MRI scans every 12 weeks to check for any changes.

So it made for an extra-special birthday celebration for her family when Ellie’s results came back in the week before to show that the pre-schooler’s condition remains stable.

Commenting on Ellie’s MRI scan, mum Jenna says, “As always, she was an absolute superstar and took it all in her stride.  Within a couple of days, we received the good news we were hoping for – Ellie’s scan was stable with no evidence of disease progression.

“It was just in time for her birthday.  We celebrated Ellie's fourth birthday at the weekend by enjoying her favourite takeaway sausage roll whilst feeding the ducks in Devizes, followed by cake with her grandparents, who are in our support bubble.

“Ellie got lots of lovely presents from friends and family including many Peppa Pig toys and a Moana doll.  It’s hoped once lockdown has eased and it’s safe to do so, we will be able to go and meet Peppa Pig at Paultons Park.”

Home care sessions from Julia’s House nurses and carers mean that Ellie’s mum Jenna and dad Luke can spend quality time with their son Tom, knowing that Ellie is safe and cared for while they play with him. And Tom also enjoys his own special sessions with Julia’s House sibling worker Tracey – usually dressed as a dinosaur!
