Ruth Spurling is a parent trustee for Julia’s House and a mother to three sons. After her twin son, Tom, died in 2019 aged 7 of hepatoblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, Tom and his family were cared for by the hospice team. Since Tom’s passing, the family have been cared for through the family support service with an allocated nurse, sibling support, holistic care and continuous opportunity to connect with other families.

“Julia’s House has provided our whole family with a crucial support system, enabling all of us to regain some sense of stability.  The way in which Tom was cared for and how our family is still supported has, without question, been fundamental in finding a healthy approach to our life since Tom’s passing”
