If you are looking for a feel-good challenge with breathtaking views, the Great Wiltshire Walk is back on Saturday 11 July 2026, and we would love you to join us. Every mile you walk will help raise vital funds for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, supporting seriously ill children and their families across Wiltshire and Dorset.
A Challenge With Stunning Views
This much-loved summer event gives walkers the chance to take on either a half marathon hike of 13.1 miles or a full marathon hike of 26.2 miles through some of Wiltshire’s most beautiful countryside. Expect rolling hills, sweeping vistas and historic landmarks along the way, with both routes finishing at the awe-inspiring Avebury Stone Circle, one of the largest prehistoric stone circles in the world.
When you cross the finish line, you will be welcomed with a glass of prosecco, a pulled pork sandwich with vegetarian and vegan options, and the rewarding feeling of knowing you have made a real difference.
Double the Impact for Local Families
This year, your fundraising will go even further. Thanks to the generous support of the Malmesbury League of Friends, all donations will be match funded up to £10,000. This means every pound you raise could have twice the impact for the families we care for.
The Malmesbury League of Friends provides funds to help local people with specific medical needs, which are not available from other sources.
Julia’s House Fundraising Manager, Alice Chalmers, said: “The Great Wiltshire Walk is a really special event because it brings people together to enjoy the incredible Wiltshire countryside, while doing something truly meaningful for local families. Every step our walkers take helps Julia’s House provide vital care, respite and support for children with life-limiting conditions and the people who love them. We are incredibly grateful to the Malmesbury League of Friends for their generous offer to match-fund donations, doubling the difference our walkers can make for the families we support.”
Two Routes, One Incredible Cause
Whether you are walking solo, with friends or as part of a corporate team, you will be fully supported every step of the way.
Choose your challenge:
- Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, starting at The Kings Arms and finishing at The Clubhouse in Avebury
- Full Marathon, 26.2 miles, a circular route starting and finishing at The Clubhouse in Avebury
Both routes are fully marked, with refreshment stops and first-aid cover along the way. Every participant will receive:
- A Julia’s House technical t-shirt
- A finisher’s medal
- Food and refreshments at the finish line
Why Your Steps Matter
Julia’s House provides specialist care, respite and emotional support for children with life-limiting and complex medical conditions. The charity relies almost entirely on public donations to continue offering this essential care. Without local support, Julia’s House simply would not exist.
By taking part in the Great Wiltshire Walk, you will be helping families create precious memories together when every moment counts.
