Lauren Marina
Lauren is an artist, illustrator and poet living in Poole.

She is known for working in a striking monochromatic palette and her work often centres around her appreciation for the natural world. Lauren incorporates a childlike wonder for the small and curious details of the world around her, and through her art encourages audiences to adopt a slower pace and more gentle way of living.

The key line of a poem written by Lauren, “I breathe with the waves and the waves breathe with me’, wraps playfully around the tail, encouraging viewers to circle it completely and end facing out to sea to watch the waves. Lauren hopes this moment of interaction can support the wellbeing of many who pass by.

I love working on public art projects that interact and engage with the communities around them. Knowing that the Great Tail Trail would be supporting the fantastic work of Julia's House made my application to be involved even more meaningful. I also knew that a brilliant variety of artists would be chosen so I couldn't miss out on soaking up all the creative goodness!
