Doddy Design

Becky Dodd
Becky, from Wimborne, was inspired to become an artist by the Pride in Bournemouth art trail in 2011.

She enjoys creating community-focused art and is excited to be part of The Great Tail Trail alongside so many fantastic artists. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase creativity through large-scale conversation pieces that will lave a lasting impact and bring joy to our local area,” says Becky.

This playful design celebrates the coastline's rich surfing and local coffee shop culture. Designed in the style of patchwork tattoos, it aims to spark joyful conversations and spread positive messages to locals who cherish the connections made through their favourite coastal coffee spots and beach sports.

The Wild in Art Lion Trail that came to Bournemouth in 2011, when I was just 11, was the spark that lit my passion for drawing and set me on the road to creating public art. That experience showed me how art can bring overlooked spaces to life and get people talking through fun, joyful designs. Tattoos are such an amazing way for people to express themselves and tell their stories, so with the "Tattooed Mermaid," I wanted the design to be something everyone could relate to. I filled the mermaid with playful, whimsical illustrations and positive messages to show off her adventurous, fun loving personality!
