Here's our top tips for fundraising on social media:
- Tell a Compelling Story: Share your personal reasons for supporting Julia's House. Why does the cause matter to you and how will the money you raise make an impact? What's going to be tough about this challenge? Think months of training, early mornings, sore knees, hitting the wall at mile 20, and pushing through exhaustion on the day. The more personal and honest you are, the more people will connect with your challenge and want to support you.
- Use Videos: If you can, create a video to share on your social media pages. It's far more engaging than just a photo and it doesn't need to be anything fancy - a simple video taken on your smartphone whilst you're out on a training run is perfect. Just explain what you’re doing, why you’re taking on the London Marathon for Julia’s House, and how people can support you. Authenticity is more important than polish!
- Set Clear Goals: Clearly state your fundraising goal and explain what the funds will be used for (see the examples on the homepage of this hub). People are more likely to contribute when they know exactly how their money will make a difference.
- Tag and Mention Supporters: When people donate or share your fundraising page, thank them publicly by tagging or mentioning them. It not only shows appreciation but also encourages others to get involved.
- Regularly Update Your Audience: Keep your audience informed about your progress. Share milestones, success stories, and any challenges you've overcome. Transparency builds trust and keeps people engaged. Use eye-catching visuals, such as images and videos, to grab attention.
Remember to always add a link to your fundraising page in your posts. If you're using Instagram, you can add the link to your bio and tell people it's there.
