While many of us are struggling to muster up the energy for a daily walk this February, our supporter Odette Morris is taking on a gruelling multi-fitness fundraising challenge.

The 59-year-old from Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is aiming to complete a total of 6,800 abdominal crunches and sit-ups, plus 1,500 press-ups and 50 miles on foot by the end of the month. She’s doing her challenge to raise money for Julia's House children's hospice and Dorothy House Hospice Care.

Every day throughout this month, Odette will increase her level of activity – working up to a daunting 70 press-ups and a combination of 370 crunches and sit-ups on the 28th February. She’ll also be out running and walking in her local area to achieve her 50 mile goal.

“I’ve got a member of the family suffering from cancer at the moment, so two of my sisters and I have decided to each take on a challenge to raise money for different charities,” says Odette.

“I want to raise awareness for both Julia’s House children’s hospice and Dorothy House because I know how much good work both these hospices do. Hopefully the money I raise will help to support their care for seriously ill children and adults across the county.”

Odette has also signed up to volunteer for Julia’s House when restrictions are lifted later in the year.

Nicky Clack, our fundraising administrator for Wiltshire, says, “We’re incredibly grateful to Odette for her support, and for taking on this ambitious challenge for Julia’s House – she’s an inspiration to us all!

"We rely on fundraising income to continue our essential care for children with life-limiting conditions in the community. So, every crunch and press-up will make a big difference for local families who need our support.”

As a regular at Tribe Fitness Centre and Snap Fitness in Trowbridge, Odette describes herself as “fairly fit” already, but says this challenge will push her to the limit.

She adds, “At the moment, I’m enjoying the challenge and feeling okay – but ask me again on the 28th and I’m sure it will be a different story!”

Already, Odette has doubled her target of £100 by raising around £200 for the local charities. If you’d like to show your support, visit her Just Giving page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/OdetteMorris
