International Woman's Day is a time to recognise all the amazing women work at Julia's House, and we'd like to highlight a lady who has been a very special influence on one family in particular.

Julia's House nurse Sam Roberts was recently nominated by 6 year old Carmela to receive a hamper full of goodies from the Barrie Wells Trust via their Box4Kids Heroes initiative. Carmela's mum Lucy says "Sam has continued to help and put things into place to ensure Carmela’s needs have been met during both lockdowns."

As a reward for her dedication, Sam received a delicious gift package of M&S treats, a certificate to acknowledge her nomination as a Box4Kids Hero and a drawing and photo from Carmela.

The Trust usually runs an initiative called Box4Kids by which children are nominated by hospital and hospice staff to attend a VIP day out at a sporting or entertainment event in the comfort and luxury of an executive box. However with these events currently on hold due to COVID-19, the Barrie Wills Trust decided to reverse the initiative, and allow children to nominate their Hero from a hospital or hospice.

When asked how she feels about the recognition, Sam, said "The best thing was the picture Carmela drew, such a lovely picture. I have said thank you to Lucy and Carmela for nominating me and they wish they could have nominated everyone so am accepting on behalf of all the team for their hard work and will share out all the goodies!"
