We're delighted to share that we've opened our new superstore in Devizes this week – and the ‘secret shopping’ destination is already proving a hit with local bargain hunters!
“We’re hugely excited to have opened our second Julia’s House shop in Devizes, and we've had a fantastic response from the local community so far,” says Julia’s House Head of Retail, Natasha Burkin.
While there's no Julia's House sign above the doors just yet, Natasha says that hasn’t stopped the team from transforming the inside into our signature boutique-style shopping space.
The New Park Street premises sits within a conservation area, meaning we need to wait a few more weeks for our planning application for external signage to be approved. A decision is expected in late April.
“The bonus is that the lack of signage actually makes it feel like a secret shopping experience,” says Natasha. “There are certainly lots of treasures to be found, once you step through the doors!”
Toys galore in Julia’s House’s biggest Wiltshire shop
The new superstore is our largest shop in Wiltshire and specialises in children’s clothing and toys.
“This new location is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the huge range of pre-loved items that Julia’s House can offer, and it’s a lovely environment for shoppers,” Natasha said. “It is our biggest Wiltshire shop, with our fantastic first-ever toddler area and our only dedicated homeware department in the county.”
Natasha reassured customers that the charity’s existing Maryport Street shop will continue to operate as usual.
“Our original high street shop in the centre of Devizes will stay the same – this will still be our main hub for luxury brands and occasion wear for parties.”
She added, “It’s only thanks to the incredible support of the local community that we felt we could open another shop in Devizes. When we have our signage in place, we plan to host a special ‘thank you’ event inside the store to celebrate.”
Supporting local children and families
Julia’s House children’s hospice provides specialist care for children with life-limiting conditions and support for their exhausted families. Around half of the charity’s care is in families’ homes and the community. Nearly 10 years ago, Julia’s House opened Wiltshire’s only dedicated children’s hospice building in Devizes, offering a welcoming space for respite care, play sessions, wider family support and compassionate end-of-life care.
Every purchase made in the charity’s shops helps fund this vital lifeline for local children and families.
An easy way to donate and shop for something you love
The new superstore offers five dedicated parking spaces, plus the pay and display Wharf Car Park is directly behind the building, making it easier than ever for supporters to drop off donations and shop for something new to them.
Inside, shoppers can browse a wide range of children’s clothing, toys and games, homeware, men’s and women’s fashion, books, jewellery, decorative pieces and everyday essentials.
Throughout the year, Julia's House will also host community events at the store, supporting national campaigns including Children’s Hospice Week, Volunteers’ Week, Sustainable September and festive Christmas activities.
Natasha added, “We’d love to have more helping hands out on the shop floor and in the back sorting donations. It’s a great way to learn new skills and meet people, so please do reach out if you feel you could help for a couple of hours a week.”
