Held at the Bear Hotel in Devizes on Thursday 5 May, guests including Wadworth Chairman, Charles Bartholomew and the Mayor of Devizes, Cllr Chris Gay, were able to learn more about our vital work in the community.

Julia’s House provides a lifeline of care for the most seriously ill children across Wiltshire and Dorset. We rely almost entirely on donations to provide this vital support for local families in their homes and at our hospices.

In Wiltshire, we're currently raising £1m less than we need to provide our critical service each year. We're running our Together We Care Appeal to raise more awareness and funds in the county to support the growing number of families who depend on our specialist care.

“Julia's House is a vital resource for many Wiltshire families and I am proud to support them. I was delighted to join them at their recent event in Devizes and very moved, as everyone there was, by the stories we heard of the work they do. Please do give what help you can.”

Danny Kruger MP

Danny Kruger MP spoke passionately about Julia's House during the evening, and of his previous experience of visiting our children’s hospice in Devizes. He was followed with speeches from Julia’s House Chief Executive, Martin Edwards, and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Peter Wragg.

Local parents who are supported by us also attended the event, including our Ambassador, Emma Jerram. The families were able to share more about what life is like for them, providing round-the-clock care for a seriously ill child, and how the respite care that Julia’s House provides has helped them.

Julia’s House Chief Executive, Martin Edwards, said, “With more Wiltshire children being referred to us all the time for care, it is crucial that Julia’s House becomes better known and supported. Life is so different for parents of a child who needs round-the-clock care – they face exhaustion on a daily basis. I hope our Together We Care Appeal enables our nurses to help more of them, with respite, care and companionship.”

Local businesses and individuals can support Julia’s House and our Together We Care appeal in various ways, including signing up to fundraising events, making a donation and by joining our Business Club 200.
