Our Wiltshire fundraisers, Alice Chalmers and Claudia Hickin, attended the annual event at Salisbury Racecourse on Friday 31 March and were thrilled to accept the award on behalf of our dedicated team.

As well as the award, we were gifted free Salisbury Chamber membership for a year, £1,000 to spend on advertising from the Salisbury Journal, plus a fifth of the money raised from the raffle and auction on the night.

Julia’s House looks after the most seriously ill children in Salisbury and across Wiltshire and Dorset, providing essential clinical care and respite breaks in families’ homes and at our hospices. As a charity, we rely almost entirely on donations to provide our lifeline of care for local families.

On winning the award, Alice Chalmers, Julia’s House Wiltshire Fundraising Manager, said, “We’re so delighted to have won Charity of the Year, especially as we mark our 20th anniversary at Julia’s House children’s hospice. We had a brilliant time on Friday, celebrating and chatting to the fantastic other local charities and businesses that were there. This recognition is absolutely down to the outstanding care and passion demonstrated by our dedicated team of nurses and care specialists, along with our wider team of staff and volunteers. We’re all very proud to work for Julia’s House – supporting the charity’s unfailing mission to provide a lifeline of care for the most seriously ill children and their families in Salisbury and across Wiltshire and Dorset.”

Also highly commended within the Charity of the Year category, sponsored by Sarum St Thomas Church, were the wonderful charities – Alabare and The Stars Appeal.

Eight awards were presented in total at the event, which was hosted by the Salisbury and District Chamber of Commerce and the Salisbury Business Improvement District, and sponsored by the Salisbury Journal.
