It is with great regret that we have made the difficult decision to close our Christchurch charity shop, after nearly two decades of proudly serving the local community.
Despite efforts to boost income through price reductions and increased promotions, sales have steadily declined while unavoidable costs have risen over the past three years. The cost of operating the shop now exceeds the income it generates, making continued trading unsustainable. The shop will close on 10 December.
We would like to extend huge thanks to everyone who has contributed to the shop’s success over the years from the dedicated shop staff and volunteers to all the supporters who have donated and shopped at the store, helping to raise vital funds for local children and families.
“This has been a very hard decision for us after nearly 20 years trading in Christchurch,” says Mike Bartlett, Julia’s House Deputy CEO. “It reflects a very difficult retail environment at the moment, particularly for charity shops, with costs rising all the time.
“We are hugely grateful for the commitment and loyalty of our Christchurch shop staff and volunteers and we want to say a big thank you to the local community whose support has helped to make a difference to our care every day. We will continue to be busy and active in the Christchurch community with events, partnerships and volunteer activities.”
We remain committed to investing in and expanding our network of shops across Dorset and Wiltshire, with ambitious plans for retail growth in the coming years.
