Something lovely is growing at our new Devizes shop!
This month, volunteers from Dauntsey’s School rolled up their sleeves to bring a splash of colour to our brand-new Julia’s House shop on New Park Street in Devizes. Armed with trowels, watering cans and a heap of enthusiasm, the group have transformed the flower beds surrounding the shop with colourful plants.
The cheerful collection, including skimmias, hebes and lavenders, were generously donated by Superior Plants.
This year, Julia's House is one of Dauntsey's School's chosen charities. Student Arthur says he volunteered on the planting project because he loves gardening and thought it would be a nice way to help Julia's House. He was joined by Dauntsey’s Head of Partnership, Gay Butterworth, plus our wonderful hospice garden volunteers, Jen, Giles and Sue.
Arthur's Nan Rachel also got “roped in” unexpectedly to help with planting when she dropped him off, and ended up joining the fun. While they worked to create the new flower beds, passers-by clapped the group and thanked them for brightening up the local space.
As Gay puts it, projects like these give students the chance to step beyond the classroom and make a real difference. And thanks to a few muddy hands and big hearts, that difference will soon be in full bloom!
