Make a Difference in Your Community – One Garment at a Time

Are you looking for a rewarding way to give back to your local community? Join our friendly team at Julia’s House, your local children’s hospice supporting the most seriously ill children in Dorset and Wiltshire. Our work wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support of our amazing volunteers.

We’re currently looking for Volunteer Steamers and hangers to help prepare donated clothing for our charity shop floor using our easy-to-use steaming equipment. You’ll be helping us turn donations into vital funds that support families caring for children with complex and life-limiting conditions.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Using our steaming machine and hanging clothes for display
  • Ensuring garments look their best for customers
  • Supporting the shop team with general tasks as needed

No experience? No problem! Full training and support are provided.

What You’ll Gain

Volunteering with Julia’s House isn’t just about giving – it’s about gaining too! You’ll enjoy:

  • New skills and valuable retail experience
  • Confidence-building and teamwork opportunities
  • A friendly, welcoming environment
  • A sense of purpose and community connection
  • Volunteer discounts and references upon request

Whether you’re looking to get back into the workplace, meet new people, or support a cause close to your heart – we’d love to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. Ideally, you’ll be:

  • Friendly and approachable
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • no under 18 year olds, due to health and safety / insurance of the role

This role can be adapted to suit your availability – whether you can give a couple of hours a week or more, every minute makes a difference.
