16 year old Paddy’s condition is a bit of a mystery. He was born with intractable epilepsy (a complex seizure disorder that doesn’t respond well to treatment).  Then, at 10 weeks old he had a period of continuous seizure, which led to brain damage and quad cerebral palsy. As a result Paddy is non-verbal and has learning disabilities.  His seizure disorder remains the biggest threat to his life as he has multiple seizures daily.

Paddy’s mum Gemma explains how Julia’s House has been there to help.

“Julia’s House has supported Paddy and our family since he was just a year old.  I was really scared when a support worker suggested we were referred to Julia’s House. I heard the word hospice and my mind went to the Macmillan unit my Grandma had passed away in the year before.  I felt adamant that Paddy wasn’t dying any time soon so didn’t need a hospice.
