Every moment counts. Every memory matters. Become a key member of our Wiltshire Nursing Team and provide exceptional care and support to children with life-limiting and life threatening conditions at our Devizes Hospice and in the children’s own homes across Wiltshire.

Qualification requirements: A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience,plus extensive experience of working with children and any of the following qualifications: RSCN/RN (Child Branch) – diploma or degree, Registered Learning Disability Nurse, RGN or RN Adult.

The words of one nurse sum up so much about what makes this role so rewarding. “When one of our mums turned to me and said ‘I don’t know how we’d have got through this without you’, the sense of fulfilment was overwhelming.” Yes, you’re there to care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, both in our hospices and in their homes. But you’re also there for the family, giving them the kind of support that they will remember for the rest of their lives. But don’t for a moment think that nursing here is about hand-holding. Far from it. There’s the chance to put your clinical skills to work in a wide range of different situations. There’s also the opportunity to broaden those skills with ongoing training and development.

The Team Nurse role:

- Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet individual client needs, in conjunction with Senior Team Nurses and Lead Nurses.

- Day-to-day management of the client base, including the deployment, supervision and teaching of Care Team members. To be part of the on-call rota providing telephone support for care staff and families.

- Manage a team of Carers.

- Take a proactive role in the education and development of staff.

- Liaise with the Julia’s House Care Team and with statutory and voluntary agencies involved with Julia’s House clients care.

The successful candidate will have experience of caring for sick children in their own environment and have the ability to work both in a team and independently or with minimal supervision.

This role is for a 35 hours per week maternity leave cover contract (we regret part-time hours are not available for this position). A full driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential.

Flexibility will be required to cover days, evenings, weekends and occasional overnights. There are no set hours for contracted staff, our care is provided at the times requested by our families and is therefore variable. Rotas are prepared 6 weeks in advance.

We offer 30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time), Death in Service Scheme and members of the NHS Pension Scheme may retain membership on joining Julia's House.
