Hospice is a word that fills people with fear – but Julia’s House isn’t just there for children at the end of their lives. Children may need our help for many years, others may only need us for a short while until their condition improves.
They are referred for many different reasons but all benefit from same outstanding, award-winning care, care that transforms lives.
We never want a family to feel too frightened to seek the support they may be entitled to - and so desperately need. We will be by your side and on your side – read the story of Henry for an example of how we helped one little boy and his family.
Each family we support receives an allocation of hours that can be used at home, in the community, to take a child swimming or to Brownies, for example, or at either of our hospices. These sessions can be frequent and regular – a few hours each week - or can be saved up and used in a block. The service aims to be as flexible as possible, working around the needs of the family.
Anyone can make a referral to Julia’s House: mums, dads, friends, and health professionals – even the child themselves.
If your child has been diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition they may be eligible for our care.

When baby Henry was referred to Julia’s House his mum, Harriet, was worried – but she soon realised just how much the support would mean for the whole family.
If there are any parents out there that think a hospice referral is a negative thing, please consider it as a positive, It means you child is going to get support in the most wonderful way.
