Dorset Hospice and Community
Closing date: 18 January 2021
Salary £36,683 per annum + £3,000 Paediatric Uplift

Every moment counts. Every memory matters.

Come and join us as a Senior Team Nurse. Applicants for this role must have RSCN/RN (Child Branch) – diploma or degree. You will work in our Corfe Mullen hospice and also across Dorset in the homes of the children we look after.

We support more than 150 families across Dorset and Wiltshire, in the community, at our hospices and in families’ own homes. Our nurses get the chance to spend time with children and their families, and really get to know them. We need your expertise to provide specialist care and create wonderful memories.

“When one of our mums turned to me and said ‘I don’t know how we’d have got through this without you’, the sense of fulfilment was overwhelming.” The words of one nurse sum up so much about what makes these roles so rewarding. Yes, you’re there to care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, both in our hospices and in their homes. But you’re also there for the family, giving them the kind of support that they will remember for the rest of their lives. But don’t for a moment think that nursing here is about hand-holding. Far from it. There’s the chance to put your clinical skills to work in a wide range of different situations. There’s also the opportunity to broaden those skills with ongoing training and development.

This position is for 35 hours per week maternity leave cover contract, however part-time may be considered – with a minimum of 28 hours per week (4 days per week). A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes are essential for this role.

Your duties will include:-

- Assessing care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet individual client needs, in conjunction with Lead Nurses.

- Day-to-day management of the client base, including the deployment, supervision and teaching of Nurses, Bank Nurses and Care Team Members.

- To be part of the on-call rota providing telephone support for care staff during booked respite sits.

- Take a proactive role in the education and development of staff.

You will also manage a team of nurses and carers.

Flexibility will be required to cover days, evenings, weekends, school holidays and occasional overnights. There are no set hours for contracted staff, as our care is provided at the times requested by our families and is therefore variable. Rotas are prepared 6 weeks in advance.

Members of the NHS Pension Scheme may retain membership on joining Julia's House. We offer 30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rate for part-time staff), an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and a Death in Service scheme.

Closing date: Monday 18 January 2021
