Julia’s House is appealing for volunteer complementary therapists to offer treatments to families at its new Wiltshire children’s Hospice in Devizes.
Complementary therapy is one of the free services the charity provides for children and their families to help them relax or ease medical conditions.
Therapists need to be fully qualified and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in at least two of the following therapies: massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage or Reiki.
Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator, Nicola Garsden said:
“Families need help with a wide variety of problems; a child might have a stomach ache or a dad might have back ache from carrying a heavy child – this is where complementary therapy really helps. It’s a very rewarding role and we’re really grateful for the therapists who are able to give up some of their time to help. Last year the team dedicated nearly 200 hours to soothing symptoms and unknotting sore muscles.”
There are currently 11 volunteer therapists working across Dorset and Wiltshire. Interested in joining the team? Email Nicola.Garsden@juliashouse.org or call 01202 640402.
