Thank you to the 11 local companies (see right) who took part in the first ever Julia’s House £50 challenge.
From 1st April to 30th May, local businesses were inspired to use their entrepreneurial skills to transform £50 into as much money as possible for the charity.
Businesses were provided with the initial £50 investment to kick-start their fundraising project, but then it was up to them to come up with innovative ways to generate as much money as possible.
The teams came up with some fabulous ideas to raise money, ranging from a skivvy day where staff could pay for their boss to take them out of the office and to the pub for the afternoon, to a decathlon at Bournemouth Athletics ground.
An awards evening took place at the end of the challenge, to celebrate everyone’s fantastic efforts of raising a wonderful total of £20,000.
The overall winner was Poole Bakery, who had set themselves the challenge of walking from our Dorset hospice in Corfe Mullen to our Wiltshire hospice in Devizes and raised £5,000.
Four other companies also received special recognition; Astute Marketing won the Most Creative Fundraising Award, Meridian Lifts received the Best Business Fundraising Award, Nationwide were acknowledged with the Team Award and Dean Brooke from Unicorn Training was recognised with the Outstanding Individual Award.
Special thanks to Poole Audi for sponsoring the challenge, to JCT Developments for donating photo boards, and to volunteer photographer John Nash for photographing the launch event and awards ceremony.
If you’re interested in taking part in next year’s £50 challenge, we would love to hear from companies, no matter how small or big. To find out more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01202 644220 and ask for Caroline or Sue in the corporate fundraising team.
