A huge thank you to the Morrisons Foundation for funding the multisensory garden and a substantial amount of interior equipment at our new hospice in Devizes.
Among the items paid for by the donation of more than £238,000 were furnishings for bedrooms including the specialist end-of-life suite, bathroom equipment, most of the hoists throughout the building and some funky furniture for the teenage den.
Outside, the donation also left its mark in the form of landscaping, planting, a water feature and a wheelchair trampoline and nest swing which are bound to be a big hit when children arrive for the first hospice sessions later this summer.
Chief executive of Julia’s House, Martin Edwards, said: “We are hugely grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for their wonderful grant. It was an incredibly significant contribution towards our hospice build. The money has paid for a large amount of equipment for both inside and outside the hospice and will be hugely appreciated by the families we support in Wiltshire. We could not have finished this project to such a high specification without their help.”
Staff from the Morrisons store in Devizes also had the chance to see for themselves how the Foundation’s donation has benefited Wiltshire’s new children’s hospice when they visited.
Michelle Hawkings, Community Champion at Morrisons Devizes, said: “We’re delighted that the Morrisons Foundation has awarded a donation towards the new hospice in Devizes and I’d like to thank the team at Julia’s House for taking the time to show us round.”
