Martin Clunes will officially open Julia’s House Devizes, our new Wiltshire children’s Hospice on Saturday, 6th May.
The actor and Patron will be joined by Julia’s House families and VIP guests including community groups and individuals whose influence and fundraising has made the opening of the county’s first children’s hospice a reality.
The ribbon cutting will take place at noon followed by tours of the new building. The hospice has a child-friendly Neolithic theme throughout and includes a large open-plan space for respite sessions, play and activities, a sensory room, three bedrooms and the Pegasus Suite, for end of life care.
Following the official opening, the new hospice will undergo a formal 10-week long inspection process to gain Care Quality Commission approval before welcoming the first families in July. Julia’s House has been offering community-based care in Wiltshire for more than three years, mainly in the southern half of the county. The new centrally-based hospice will now give families county-wide access to frequent, flexible care, both in the hospice and in their own homes.
This invitation-only event will be followed by a number of public open days to welcome the Wiltshire community to the hospice. The first of these will be on Thursday, 15th June from 11am to 3pm. To book in for a tour please go to www.juliashouse.org/event/wiltshire-hospice-open-day
