Julia’s House shop staff have been given a head start on Easter bonnets thanks to a donation of 300 hats and fascinators.
We already sell mother-of-the-bride outfits at our specialist Bridal Room in our flagship Creekmoor store, and are amazed and delighted by the arrival of an entire collection of posh headwear that needed a good home.
When hat hire business owner Jan Marshall decided to retire her first thought was Julia’s House: "I knew Julia Perks, the nurse who inspired the charity. I used to work at a special needs school and Julia supported some of the poorly children. It’s a cause close to my heart and I wanted to support the wonderful work that Julia’s House does in any way that I could."
With many spring weddings in the offing and Ascot just a couple of months away, sales have already been brisk as shoppers seek out a bargain. The hats, including many top labels like Jacques Vert which would normally sell for more than £100, are on sale for between £20 and £30 – and they are disappearing fast.
Retail Manager Tracy Stanley said: "Such a wonderful, generous donation – we were absolutely stunned. We have never had such a huge selection of hats – all in mint condition - just getting them out on display has been a challenge!
"This could not have come at a better time with Spring here and people starting to think about outfits for all their special occasions."
