Cycle from Bournemouth to Paris for Julia’s House

February 9, 2017

We’re encouraging people to sign up for a new four-day Bournemouth to Paris cycle challenge this summer in aid of Julia’s House.

This is the first time we’re offering the event with Dorset as the starting point instead of London.

Setting off from Bournemouth Square on Thursday, 31st August, it will trace a route through Christchurch and the New Forest, then on to Portsmouth for the crossing to France. From Cherbourg the ride will hug the French coastline, go past the iconic Normandy landing beaches before heading inland through small villages and medieval market towns before finishing at the Eiffel Tower in the heart of Paris – a total of 296 miles. The shortest distance travelled in a day will be a 62 miles and the longest leg 908. Return travel is via Eurostar.

“London has always been the starting point for this ride in the past. It’s much more appealing for local cyclists to be able to set off closer to home,” said Julia’s House Challenge Event Fundraiser Hannah Miller.

“Whether people join up with friends or come on their own, there will be a great team atmosphere – plus the shared goal of achieving something amazing, both personally and through fundraising for families with a life-limited child.”

Places are expected to go quickly. It costs just £199 deposit per person to secure a place on the ride plus a minimum sponsorship pledge. Everyone taking part gets an all-inclusive support package plus a free Julia’s House cycling jersey and completion medal.
