AFC Bournemouth pay Christmas visit to Julia’s House

December 19, 2018

AFC Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe, players and staff brought some festive cheer to children and families when they paid a Christmas visit to the Julia’s House Dorset hospice in Corfe Mullen on Monday.

Eddie, who is a Patron of the children’s hospice charity, was joined by players including Amir Begovic, David Brooks, Tyrone Mings and Jermain Defoe.

They arrived laden with gifts for the children and spent more two hours chatting with families, posing for photos and playing with the children.

Eddie Howe said: “We always enjoy our visits to Julia’s House. It is such a special place and it is nice to have the opportunity to see the children, their parents and the amazing staff.  Visiting Julia’s House is always such an inspiring experience for us.”

Footie-mad youngsters challenged their AFC Bournemouth heroes to several games of FIFA on PlayStation and there was an impromptu kick-around on the hospice lawn.

Martin Edwards, Julia’s House Chief Executive, said: “It was lovely to see the players having such a good time with the children and to see the players chatting to parents and gaining a really good understanding of the pressures in the families’ day-to-day lives. Everybody really enjoyed what was a lovely visit and we hope to see the players again next year.”
