Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to co-ordinate the Volunteer service throughout the organisation. The position will be based at our Head Office in Poole and will require travel across Dorset and Wiltshire.  

The successful candidate will support the large number of dedicated volunteers who assist the charity in every aspect of its operation. You will carry out recruitment drives for new volunteers to help in the hospice, our shops, office and our fundraising teams. You will also keep up to date on legislation affecting volunteers, organise inductions and training and ensure that all volunteers are kept informed about the charity’s progress. You will also co-ordinate the regular staff and volunteers Away Day.

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of maintaining relationships with a diverse range of individuals
  • Experience of the voluntary sector
  • Good computer literacy
  • A genuine team player, ready to ‘pitch-in’ when needed and with the drive to develop new initiatives
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal and Health & Safety requirements affecting volunteers
  • Positive approach to maintaining our volunteers’ motivation to continue their vital support of the charity   

A full driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential.
