We are seeking 3 x Team Nurses to cover Maternity Leave within our Wiltshire Nursing team - to be based at our Devizes Hospice and work across the Wiltshire community. You will conduct sessions with groups of our children at the hospice and provide respite care for the children in their own homes across Wiltshire.

Yes, you’re there to care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, both in our hospices and in their homes. But you’re also there for the family, giving them the kind of support that they will remember for the rest of their lives. But don’t for a moment think that nursing here is about hand-holding. Far from it. There’s the chance to put your clinical skills to work in a wide range of different situations. There’s also the opportunity to broaden those skills with ongoing training and development.

Ideally we are looking nurses who can work 35 hours per week, however part-time may be considered, with a minimum of 25 hours per week.

Your role:

- Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet individual client needs, in conjunction with Senior Team Nurses and Lead Nurses.

- Day-to-day management of the client base, including the deployment, supervision and teaching of Care Team members. To be part of the on-call rota providing telephone support for care staff and families.

- Take a proactive role in the education and development of staff.

- Liaise with the Julia’s House Care Team and with statutory and voluntary agencies involved with Julia’s House clients care.

The successful candidate will have experience of caring for sick children in their own environment. You will have the ability to work both in a team and independently or with minimal supervision and you will manage a team of Carers.

A full driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are esential.

Flexibility will be required to cover days, evenings, weekends and occasional overnights. There are no set hours for contracted staff, our care is provided at the times requested by our families and is therefore variable. Rotas are prepared 6 weeks in advance.

Members of the NHS Pension Scheme may retain membership on joining Julia's House.
