Job Description

This is a maternity cover position for a minimum of six months, based at our main office in Poole, Dorset.  A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes are essential.  

Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice. We provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. We tailor our care to the needs of each individual child and their family, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our hospice. We recently launched a three-year organisational strategy, making it an exciting time to be part of the charity. The strategy is based on developing our services across two counties – Dorset and Wiltshire, continuing to provide respite care to children and their families. We have big aspirations to ensure no child is turned away from our care and are looking to develop our fundraising team, to help us achieve our ambitious goals.  

You will be responsible for leading and motivating the individual giving team including Retention and Acquisition Fundraisers, Lottery Officer and Database Officer.  You will have extensive experience in individual giving and marketing in the voluntary sector, have developed fundraising and marketing strategies, have managed a fundraising team and have set up and developed a successful donor acquisition and retention programme.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing donations from individuals and producing compelling materials for donors at various giving levels. You will have demonstrable experience of working within a revenue fundraising environment and will be able to spot opportunities for furthering philanthropic support from individuals at various levels of giving. This role will suit an ambitious, focused individual with experience of contributing to strategy as this role will provide the opportunity to develop the strategy for income maximisation from individuals.

You will be a self-starter with the comprehensive project management skills necessary to deliver a wide range of complex campaigns, within agreed timescales and budgets. In particular you will have excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) and possess a genuine passion to see Julia’s House succeed in achieving our objectives.      

 This is a full time role however part-time hours could be considered for the right candidate.
