Job Description

Now that our new hospice in Devizes is nearing completion we wish to recruit a Facilities Officer to ensure the building is maintained to a high standard and the internal environment is comfortable and safe for the children and staff who will use it.  

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Officer will liaise closely with the Care staff and ensure Care Quality Commission regulations and guidelines are maintained to provide a professional and safe standard of care to all users within the hospice, effecting maintenance tasks where appropriate. They will oversee maintenance contracts for electricity, gas, telephone and water supplies, plus mechanical and electrical (non-clinical) equipment and be able to effect running repairs where appropriate and feasible.  

The new hospice will have its own volunteer gardening team and assistance will be given with such tasks as repairs to gates, fencing, etc.  

The successful candidate will be highly organised and able to work independently, using their own initiative, and be able to schedule their own maintenance work with minimal disruption to the operation of the hospice. Experience of ordering and monitoring stock levels is also required, along with flexibility to work according to the needs of the role. A full driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential.
