Trek to Machu Picchu - NEW DATE ADDED!

15 - 25/05/2021

Event Information

Saturday 15th - Tuesday 25th May, 2021

Event Description

Unfortunately due to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus we have decided to postpone this addition date until later in 2021. Our team will be in contact as soon as the new date is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding.
We are still taking bookings for the original Machu Picchu date in May 2021 - click here for more information.

Due to the amount of interest in this once in a lifetime trek, we've added another date to give you more choice. Come to one of our information evenings to find out if this adventure is for you!

Voted one of the world’s top treks, this challenging expedition will take you over the spectacular Andean peaks, through epic Peruvian landscapes and misty cloud forest. You’ll explore traditional villages and discover the beauty of Machu Picchu, the crown jewel of the Inca Empire.

You’ll be following in the footsteps of 20th century explorers, hiking at altitudes of more than 15,000 feet along a spectacular mountain pass, finishing at Machu Picchu, where you’ll have a whole day to explore this extraordinary UNESCO world heritage site.

Be a Life Changer - go on the trek of a lifetime and help a teenager like Josh face a lifetime of challenges

Like all teenagers, Josh loves hanging out with friends. But life can be tough when you have a heart condition that leaves you exhausted and unable to keep up.

“Everyday things like walking can tire him,” explains his mum, Natasha. “He has a wheelchair if he needs to go any distance.  He feels he is missing out, that all his friends are getting on and life is passing him by.  He wants to be able to do ordinary things without physical limitations. He can get down about it, but he is a remarkably strong character.”

Trek for us and you’ll be helping a teenager like Josh face life’s challenges with positivity at the Julia’s House Youth Club where there are no boundaries to friendship and fun and no-one gets left behind.

Costs and fundraising

This trek is exclusive to Julia’s House fundraisers and offers a great opportunity to explore the magnificent citadel of Machu Picchu whilst raising much needed funds for our families.  If you choose to sign up to this challenge, it’s really important that you are committed to fundraising.

If you would like to support Julia’s House by taking part, there are three ways you can get involved:

1. Sponsorship funded: Pay a deposit of £495 and pledge to raise £3,900.

2. Flexi: Pay a deposit of £495 + £650 towards the cost of the trip. Pledge to raise £3,250.

3. Self-fund: Pay a deposit of £495 and then pay the balance of £1,950. We would love you to try and raise a minimum of £1000.

The deposit can be paid in two instalments of £247.50.

Why not the Inca Trail?

The Inca Trail has all the fame, but we have chosen the Salkantay trek as it’s a more scenic and less crowded trek. It passes through more breath-taking and varied landscapes, past Inca Ruins and still ends at Machu Picchu. You’ll have more time and energy to explore Machu Picchu itself and even an opportunity to climb Mount Machu Picchu for one of the most spectacular vantage points of the ancient city.

Filled with challenging passes and high altitudes, it’s not for the faint-hearted. However, if you’re up for the challenge, we promise you’ll be really glad you did the Salkantay Trek, over the busy and over-crowded Inca Trail – you might even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife from chinchillas, foxes and spectacled bears! Something which disappeared from the Inca Trail a long time ago…
