Event Description

Join us on this challenging yet breath-taking trek through the stunning Mont Blanc region of the Alps. You will trek through France, Italy and Switzerland over three days and experience one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Europe.  

This trek is exclusive to Julia’s House fundraisers and offers a great opportunity to come together with other supporters of Julia’s House to explore the beauty of the Alps, whilst raising much needed funds for our families.

The itinerary  

Day 1 (Thursday): London – Geneva – Courmayeur

We depart London for Geneva, Switzerland and transfer to our hotel in Courmayeur, Italy where we will enjoy a welcome dinner.  

Day 2 (Friday): Courmayeur – Champex

Following breakfast, we transfer to our start point, Arnuva. We ascend to the Grand Col Ferret at 2,537m where spectacular views unfold across the valley. Glacier de Pre de Bar dominates the view to the North, flowing down from Mont Dolent. We then make our way down to the Swiss Val Ferret, passing traditional rural villages and open meadows - the views are outstanding! Tonight we stay in a mountain chalet in the charming Swiss village Champex.   Trekking time approximately 7-8 hours (750m ascent/800m descent)  

Day 3 (Saturday): Champex - Trient

This morning we enjoy a scenic, yet challenging trail through the Swiss mountains, hiking from Champex to Trient. A balcony trail above the French Rhone Valley allows us to admire the overwhelming beauty of the vineyards this region is renowned for. We are surrounded by picturesque landscapes and countless mountain peaks. After descending in the shade of the larches we arrive in the Col de la Forclaz, a little corner of paradise set in a landscape of unspoilt beauty. We spend the evening in Trient, Switzerland.    Trekking time approximately 6- 7 hours (700m ascent/670m descent)  

Day 4 (Sunday): Trient – Tré le Champ

Our final day of trekking begins with a steady climb to the Swiss-French border. The views of Mont Blanc are breath-taking and the fabulous scenery will accompany you until we arrive in the hamlet of Tre le Champ.  This is a challenging day, but an amazing way to end our adventure. Tonight we enjoy a farewell gala dinner to mark our achievements!   Trekking time approximately 7 hours (910m ascent/750 descent)  

Day 5 (Monday): Tre le Champ – Geneva  – London

Today is free for you to relax and explore until the transfer to Geneva for our flight back to London.

This trek will certainly challenge you, with lots of ups and downs, but you will be rewarded with the most spectacular views the Alps has to offer – from stunning mountain ranges, to gorgeous waterfalls, lakes and glaciers.  

Your entry includes:          
  • Flights from the UK (including all current airport taxes and fuel supplements)
  • Accommodation in a 3* hotel in Courmayeur and basic lodges on the trek
  • All transfers and trekking permits
  • All meals and drinking water including a celebratory farewell dinner

Come along to our free information evening on Tuesday 18th July 2017 and find out if this amazing adventure is for you! This is your opportunity to find out more about the trek, how the money you raise will make a difference to local children and their families and meet some of the team before you book onto the challenge. The information evening will be held at our hospice in Corfe Mullen from 6pm.  

Tour costs and fundraising

If you would like to take part and support Julia’s House, there are two ways you can get involved:

1.    Pay a deposit of £299 and pledge to raise £1,950*.  

2.    Self-fund the tour for £1,250 (pay a deposit of £299 to secure your booking and then pay the balance of £951 by 30th March 2018). There’s no minimum sponsorship commitment, simply raise as much as you can.

The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable. We recommend that you organise travel insurance at the time of booking as this will protect your non-refundable registration fee in the event of unexpected cancellation.

Due to the huge demand for accommodation in the local villages, we ask you to book no later than 31st July 2017 to guarantee your place on the trip. We can still take bookings after this date subject to availability.

* By paying your deposit, you are committing to raising the minimum sponsorship of £1,950. 80% of the minimum sponsorship must be received no later than 10 weeks before departure. The remaining 20% must be received no later than 1 week before departure. Failure to do so may mean non-participation in the challenge. All outstanding sponsorship must be sent to Julia’s House within four weeks of completing the Challenge.
