Event Description

The Big Ride, sponsored by Addo Food Group, is a challenging yet breath-taking ride through Dorset and Wiltshire’s spectacular countryside. Help us support local life-limited children and their families.

Starting from the magnificent and picturesque grounds of Larmer Tree Gardens, there are two circular routes to choose from. Both offer a mixture of spectacular views, leg-pumping climbs and quiet rural roads. Whether you’re an avid cyclist or climbing on to two wheels for the first time, this ride could be the challenge for you.

Your friends and family are welcome to join us at Larmer Tree Gardens where they can cheer you across the finish line. There will be a delicious hog roast and glass of prosecco waiting for you at the end of the ride! You will also receive a FREE Julia's House cycling jersey when you reach £200 sponsorship.

The Grand Tour (100 miles) - £35

The Classic Tour (50 miles) - £30

Your registration fee helps towards the costs of organising the event.  It’s the money you raise that helps us to pay for the care and comfort of a local child and their family.

We would love all our riders to raise a minimum of £300. This will pay for 10 hours care for a poorly child, and respite for an exhausted mum or dad – a chance for them to have a break or catch up on those little everyday tasks the rest of us take for granted.

We will send you a FREE Julia’s House cycling jersey when you reach £200 sponsorship.

Your entry includes:
  • A dedicated contact at Julia’s House, who will give you one-to-one support all the way
  • Free cycling jersey when you reach £200 sponsorship
  • Free hog roast and glass of prosecco at the finish line
  • Free parking at Larmer Tree Gardens
  • Free entry to Larmer Tree Gardens for your friends and family, where they can join in the celebrations
  • Fully sign-posted routes
  • Route map
  • Downloadable GPX files for both routes
  • Chip timing
  • Route marshals
  • Qualified First Aiders Medical support
  • Refuel stops with water and snacks
  • Support vehicles
  • A medal for all finishers
  • An invitation to the hospice where you can see how we use the money you raise for us
  • Fundraising support, ideas and tips
  • Regular communications to keep you up-to-date
  • Huge cheers and support on the day!
The Route

The Big Ride has two routes. The classic 50 mile route and the 100 mile ‘Grand Tour’, both starting and finishing at Larmer Tree Gardens.

Both routes consist of undulating roads, challenging hill sections but also breath-taking views over the Salisbury plain and Cranborne Chase. You will cycle through some charming Dorset and Wiltshire villages. There are, as you would expect, some steeper and more challenging hill sections on the 100 mile route, but you’ll still cycle through stunning almost traffic-free villages.
