Event Description

While we’ve sadly had to cancel this year’s UK challenge events due to COVID-19, we do have some exciting news.

Although we can’t be with each other physically, we can still stand together and do something amazing. This is why we’ve launched an exciting new virtual challenge - Everest Expedition!

If every single person who has already signed up to one of our challenge events carried on to achieve their goal - whether it’s running or walking 5, 13 or 26 miles or cycling 30, 50 or 100 miles - we would cover enough miles to reach the summit of Everest - 4,606 miles to be exact!

Are you up for the challenge?

How to join us on our Everest Expedition

  1. Put the date in your diary: 26th - 27th September 2020
(Don’t worry if you can’t make that weekend, you can do it any other time)

  2. Choose your distance.
No matter where you are, you can take part solo or make it a team challenge. Choose to walk, cycle or run the distance in one day or spread the distance over the weekend. Get your friends and family to join you!

  3. Join our Strava Club so you can log your miles and support each other.
Just download the Strava app on your phone, join our group and simply log your miles. This is how we'll track if we've achieved our team goal to reach Everest!

  4. Fundraise.
Set up your JustGiving page and let your friends and family know that you're climbing Everest! We suggest you set your target to £100, but any fundraising you are able to do right now, however limited, will make all the difference to our care.

  5. Use the hashtag #JHEverest to share a selfie of you or your team completing your challenge (or just of the view if you prefer!) and we’ll send you a special medal to mark your achievement.

Whatever you do, please make sure you adhere to the current Government guidelines as your heath and safety is very important to us.

Let us know you’re taking part!

If you have already signed up to one of our challenge events, all you need to do is sign up to our Facebook event or email hannah.miller@juliashouse.org to let us know you’re up for the virtual challenge and are joining our Everest Expedition. If you decide not to take part or are unable to do so, you can choose to:

  1. Receive a full refund for your original entry fee.

  2. Or, if you are able, we would so appreciate you donating your 2020 entry fee to support our children and families at this difficult time.

Please email hannah.miller@juliashouse.org with your preferred refund option.

Not already signed up to one of our challenge events?

You can still take part in our Everest Expedition virtual challenge for just £15. In return for your donation, you will receive access to our online community and a special medal to mark your achievements.

Local families need you now more than ever

This remains an isolating and frightening time for mums and dads trying to keep vulnerable children safe. Lockdown may have eased, but families continue to be isolated and on their guard against coronavirus. Thankfully, our nurses and carers are right by their side, no matter what.

But just as the children and families need us now more than ever, we need you. Our care hasn't stopped during the crisis but our events have, leaving us with a huge fundraising mountain to climb. Will you help us climb it?

Our events may be off, but a far greater challenge is just beginning...
