Director of Care
Ali Acaster qualified as an RGN (now called RN adult) and then as an RSCN (now called RN child) in the late 1980’s. She then worked in a variety of children’s nursing posts in London, in particular as Ward Sister of Paediatric Oncology at Barts Hospital, and then spent 6 years in 2 different teams as a Children’s Community Nurse in London. During this time Ali completed her BSc and became a specialist Nurse Practitioner in Children’s Community Nursing.
In 1999 Ali moved to Dorset and became the Team Leader for the Children’s Community Nursing Team (which co-incidentally had been Julia Perks’ role before she passed away). During this time Ali worked alongside several different children’s hospices and became passionate about children having access to gold standard palliative care. When the opportunity to start the care services of Julia’s House came up in 2003 she jumped at the chance and has never looked back…
In 2017 Ali completed her MSc in Clinical Leadership in Cancer, End of Life and Palliative Care and she continues to support, lead, educate and fill Julia’s House with laughter every day.
