Student’s Pyjama Appeal for local hospice
This summer, university student Daniel O’Donnell will be pulling on his PJs and undertaking a series of grueling physical challenges to raise money for a new night time service at Dorset children’s hospice, Julia’s House.
Daniel O’Donnell, 21, from Bournemouth, will push off his series of fundraising events with a cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats. Not content with cycling the length of the UK, he will further test his physical fitness and endurance by undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge – climbing the three highest peaks in the UK – en route!
After taking a few weeks off to recover, the Southampton Solent University Sports Studies student will then make his way to Tanzania to trek to the summit of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.
Daniel is yet to pick the pyjamas he will be wearing for the events and he is still searching for a pair big enough to go over the protective layers he will be wearing to trek to the top of Kilimanjaro, but he is looking forward to the challenge.
He says: “It’s great that I can combine my love of sports with raising awareness and much needed funds for such brilliant cause”.
“I may be taking it to the extreme, but I can’t think of a better way to raise funds for a service that will help and improve so many lives,” he added.

The Pyjama appeal has been launched by Julia’s House to raise the £400,000 needed to run the overnight service for the coming year at the charity’s hospice in Corfe Mullen. The new service will allow families of life-limited children to access full weekend respite breaks and also round-the-clock end-of-life care.
